Head of School's Message

Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed. -    Maria Montessori

Dear Parents,

The above quote is one of the core tenets of the Montessori developmental approach, and a great reminder of how we need to balance our help of the child, and that most often, not helping is the best help of all, as counter-intuitive as that can feel.

Today is the LAST DAY for financial aid applications, so please finish them up and get them submitted.  Thank you!

New Floater

We are pleased to welcome Sloan Seelbach to our RMS team. She will be working as a part time floater in the mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please feel free to introduce yourself to our newest staff member.

Spiritual Bouquet for Deirdre Pennefather

Many of you know Deirdre, the aunt of Charbel in our North Star environment and a member of our broader community, is struggling with cancer. Below is a note about a spiritual bouquet the Manassas community is preparing for her. Please join in!

"Deirdre's birthday is March 23 and I would like to give her a spiritual calendar (like a spiritual bouquet).  I will enlarge a calendar page, put it on a poster board, and decorate it with lovely stickers.  How this works:  you choose a day that you would be willing pray for Deirdre and her family. Include any sacrifices, Mass, rosary- whatever you would like.  Once I know the day that you want, I will write your family name on that square of the calendar.  I would like to start with her birthday (which I will leave for her family, like her siblings) but then you can send me what day you would like. It's fine if more than one family has a particular day since I imagine that will have to be case if everyone wants a day.  This will go through April, so I will copy the end of March and the whole of April calendar page.

I hope this makes sense. I'll take a picture of it once it's finished and send it out. Can you all help me please and pass this on? I'm sure that I do not have emails of others who will want to participate.  I will send a separate email about this to Fr. Noah and Fr. VW and the HFA peeps.

So please send me a date if you want to join in, as soon as possible. It's sneaking up on me.

Any questions please feel free to call me 703 738 6452 home or 703 675 2460 cell.

Thank you everyone!  God bless

Cathy Carolla"

Financial Aid Application Deadline

As with Admissions and Enrollment, RMS uses the services of TADS to process tuition assistance applications. The TADS Application and Worksheet are available here: https://www.renaissancemontessorischool.org/financial-aid/

The deadline to apply for aid for the 2018-19 school year is March 15, 2018.

Spring Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher conferences occur twice a year; once in the fall and once in the spring. The conferences provide parents with one-on-one time with the teacher, to share our joint observations of the child, so we can best acknowledge who they are and what they need next. Conferences can be scheduled during “office hours”, which are unique to the environment.

Use the links below to schedule a conference. If there is an emergency and you are not able to make your scheduled time, please contact the office to let us know. Then reschedule through the sign up below for an available time. Thank you in advance for your prompt arrival.

Referral Flyer

You can earn $500 in tuition credits just by referring a family to RMS, when that family enrolls! As a tool to help you, we have passed out flyers about the school that you can hand to your friends and family with small children.

Please Review RMS

In our digital world, parents often look for online reviews when considering the best school for their family. We'd like to encourage you to post a review about your experience at RMS. We believe that we offer something unique in our area and we'd love for you to share your RMS story.

Uniform Vest Discontinued

The Lands End sweater vest that is an option for our elementary uniform is being discontinued by the manufacturer. Going forward our uniform guidelines will not offer that as an option. However, if you have one, your child may continue to wear it. The full sweater and the fleece remain available at Lands End and continue to be options for warmth in the classroom and the dress uniform.

Reminders

SCRIP

Don’t forget to order scrip weekly at www.shopwithscrip.com and drop off your cash or checks by Tuesday. Mr Garvey will collect them curbside or you can put them directly into the SCRIP box in the office. If you haven’t set up an account yet, our enrollment code is 8F91287E14129.

Remember that if you want to earn that $300 quickly, it is best to set up a PrestoPay account because you can purchase and use electronic SCRIP immediately from your handheld device or home computer, no more dealing with dropping off checks and waiting a week for your cards to arrive.

Forgot to place an order? No problem, there is a SCRIP binder in the office with an array of cards for purchase. Simply go into the office and Kristina will help you through the purchase process. Any questions or problems please contact Rosanne Garvey at rosanne505@verizon.net or 703-447-9229.

"Front Door" Change

The current main door - Door 4 - is not only far from the office but has not been functioning properly. We have installed a bell on Door 3 and will be using that as the school's main door. Please use that door and bell whenever you need to gain entry to the building.

Re-enrollment

Re-enrollment has officially begun. By now, you should have received an invitation to re-enroll directly from TADS. If you have not received this email, please check your spam folder and then contact Kristina Fox in the office if unable to locate.

As always, you will need to submit a $100.00 tuition deposit per child ($50.00 for RMS Atrium and Parent/Infant). This year, we have streamlined the process so after you have enrolled each of your children, you will be led directly to your payment agreement.

Because we are at or near capacity, in order to secure your child(ren)'s spot, the enrollment form, the deposit and the payment agreement will need to be set up prior to the March 30th deadline, after which open enrollment begins.

Should you encounter any problems with the forms, don't hesitate to contact TADS Parent Support at 800.477.8237, Monday through Friday 7 to 8 Central time.
