Message from the Head of School

“Faith in action is love. And love in action is service.” - St. Teresa of Calcutta

Dear Parents,

I want to express my deep gratitude to the RMS Gala team, led by Co-Chairs Paula Hugo and Sarah Klump, for the tremendous work they did in making our annual fundraiser not only profitable, but beautiful and enjoyable to all who attended. The love expressed for the RMS community through this service is inspiring and appreciated beyond what words can express. Thank you!

God bless,

Sean

Messages from the Environments

MESSAGE FROM THE YOUNG CHILDREN'S COMMUNITY

The Atrium is an entrance into God's heart and each presentation is a sensorial gift to the children. The youngest children of our RMS community live in the reality of the Kingdom, and it is expressed each day with great joy! Lent is upon us in the liturgical life of the Atrium, and the children within it continue to be sensorially prepared to receive the Paschal mystery, "Christ has died, Christ is risen." They have heard that the Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep, worked with the puzzle map of the Land of Israel, a place where Jesus lived and walked this same earth, and broken and shared their daily bread at the community meal.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHILDREN'S HOUSE

In the Children’s House we have been working hard on respecting others and helping our community to be peaceful. We have been practicing communication, respect of boundaries and and working on the idea of a respectful “No, thank you.“ At this young age, this means language like “Will you have snack with me?”, “Please step away from my work”, “Please don’t ...” and “May I give you a hug?” We are working on how to communicate our own preferences and requests in a kind manner. These skills, if we can achieve them now, will be invaluable when we get older.

MESSAGE FROM ELEMENTARY

The Elementary community has begun to prepare for our spring opera! This year, we will be doing “Harlequin.” Like last year’s production, this opera was written and composed by Sanford Jones of Youth Opera International. It is the story of a young boy who wants to go to the carnival in town to celebrate Mardi Gras but is too poor to afford a costume. Harlequin’s friends help by each offering a bit of their own costumes so that he can join them.

The older children have been watching a DVD sent to us by Mr. Jones of another school’s production to get an idea of what “Harlequin” will entail, and there are many animated conversations daily about casting. We will get the CDs with the music next week!

MESSAGE FROM ERDKINDER

Erdkinder's small business Fructus Terrae {fruit of the eartth} is selling a new product! We have organic Seed Potatoes grown from our own "potato mountain" last year. If planted during March or April, these seed potatoes will produce a large harvest of Red, Yellow and Purple Fingerling Potatoes. One bag costs $ 3.00 and will plant a 10 foot row. Instructions included!
Available for pick up at dismissal. Who Doesn't love potatoes? Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Lost and Found Will Be Donated 3/22

Our Lost and Found, which is located on the shelf in the Parent Lounge, is overflowing! There are LOTS of uniform fleeces and other items that might belong to you. Please stop in at Parent Night or during the day to claim your child's items. All items still in the Lost and Found on March 22nd will be donated to charity.

Montessori Math Parent Night Tonight!

Thursday, March 14
6:30 Social Time
7:00 Presentation

This evening is open to friends of RMS as well so invite a friend that might be interested in learning more about Montessori!

Montessori and STEM are often seen as mutually exclusive. Sometimes the focus on all the amazing developmental, emotional and spiritual benefits of a Montessori education can mean the superior academic benefits get lost!

However, Dr. Montessori saw that all humans are born with a mathematical mind and the method she developed allows children to maximize this potential.Come and see how Math materials and presentations in a Montessori environment can unlock the child's natural ability and what Dr. Montessori called the "universal love of mathematics."

Middle School Informational Meeting Tonight!

As previously announced Mrs. Mary Pat Blanchette, our current school nurse, has agreed to take on the task of rebuilding our adolescent program to more fully meet the needs of our families. The program will now be a middle school offering only, with a balance between the work of the hand and a classical approach to education.

We would like to offer an informational session for all parents and children interested in the program. We will speak more to the plans for the new program and have time for questions from the community.

This meeting will take place immediately before the next Parent Night from 5:30 - 6:30 PM, Thursday, March 14th, in the auditorium.

How to Earn a $500 Tuition Credit

Many of our families have come to RMS because they've heard from an existing school family how happy they are at Renaissance. These personal referrals are the best marketing any school could ask for and we want to reward you for them!

With open enrollment beginning, now is the perfect time to to make a referral through our “Referral Bonanza” program.

Here's how it works:

  1. Talk to your friends and family with young children and encourage them to schedule a visit by calling the office or through our online scheduler at https://www.renaissancemontessorischool.org/schedule-a-visit/. We will be sending home a flyer for you to hand to a family you think might be interested as well!

  2. Any referred family that decides to apply after their observation and visit will have their application fee refunded.

  3. If a referred family is admitted and decides to enroll, the referring family will get a $500 tuition discount.

If you feel you don’t need that discount but your referred friend does, you can gift it to them!
