"These very children reveal to us the most vital need of their development, saying : 'Help me to do it alone!'" -    Maria Montessori

Hello Dear Parents,

I hope you are all enjoying the unseasonably warm February!

Spring may be a few weeks away still, but on days like we’ve had recently, we’re reminded that it is definitely on its way, and closer than we think.

Spring conferences will be coming (stay tuned for office hour announcements), but to make the most of them, schedule some time soon to come and observe. The heart and soul of the pedagogy is observation. There’s really no way to better go on the journey with your child than coming to observe.

Mardi Gras results are in, and it was another wonderful success!  We set another record on this our 10th Anniversary Mardi Gras Gala, grossing over $92,000!  After expenses, that means we were able to raise a little over $78,000, our best year ever, by long shot! Thank you so much for all your support and hard work to make that happen!

I wanted to leave you with this fascinating TED Talk, by Dr. Steven Hughes, a Pediatric Neuropsychologist. He has a wonderful way of expressing the neurological impact and importance of the brain building, and what it takes.  Enjoy.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l57oaOlPwE&t=447s

God bless,

Sean

PS – Don’t forget to re-enroll if you haven’t already!!  Thank you!

Reminders

SCRIP

Don’t forget to order scrip weekly at www.shopwithscrip.com and drop off your cash or checks by Tuesday. Mr Garvey will collect them curbside or you can put them directly into the SCRIP box in the office. If you haven’t set up an account yet, our enrollment code is 8F91287E14129.

Remember that if you want to earn that $300 quickly, it is best to set up a PrestoPay account because you can purchase and use electronic SCRIP immediately from your handheld device or home computer, no more dealing with dropping off checks and waiting a week for your cards to arrive.

Forgot to place an order? No problem, there is a SCRIP binder in the office with an array of cards for purchase. Simply go into the office and Kristina will help you through the purchase process. Any questions or problems please contact Rosanne Garvey at rosanne505@verizon.net or 703-447-9229.

POSTPONED - Unless you become as little children . . .

Due to an unforseen change in scheduling, the evening with Maggie Radzik scheduled for March 3rd has to be postponed. We hope to reschedule for the Spring so stay tuned to your email for a new date.

Financial Aid Application Deadline

As with Admissions and Enrollment, RMS uses the services of TADS to process tuition assistance applications. The TADS Application and Worksheet are available here: https://www.renaissancemontessorischool.org/financial-aid/

The deadline to apply for aid for the 2018-19 school year is March 15, 2018. However, the sooner you apply, the sooner we can make a determination!

"Front Door" Change

The current main door - Door 4 - is not only far from the office but has not been functioning properly. We have installed a bell on Door 3 and will be using that as the school's main door. Please use that door and bell whenever you need to gain entry to the building.

Re-enrollment

Re-enrollment has officially begun. By now, you should have received an invitation to re-enroll directly from TADS. If you have not received this email, please check your spam folder and then contact Kristina Fox in the office if unable to locate.

As always, you will need to submit a $100.00 tuition deposit per child ($50.00 for RMS Atrium and Parent/Infant). This year, we have streamlined the process so after you have enrolled each of your children, you will be led directly to your payment agreement.

Because we are at or near capacity, in order to secure your child(ren)'s spot, the enrollment form, the deposit and the payment agreement will need to be set up prior to the March 30th deadline, after which open enrollment begins.

Should you encounter any problems with the forms, don't hesitate to contact TADS Parent Support at 800.477.8237, Monday through Friday 7 to 8 Central time.

Head of School's Message

“Now the little child who manifests perseverance in his work…. demonstrates, almost as in a splendid revelation, the true manner in which man renders himself valuable to the community.” -    Maria Montessori

Dear Parents,

Thank you thank you thank you!!! The Mardi Gras gala was a wonderful time, and it was great to see so many of you there! Sadly, a bunch of people who had intended to come got derailed by the flu and other things. But despite all that, it was as always, a very blessed event.

We don’t have the final tally just yet, but it seems to have been a financial success as well, which is great, because it helps fund our financial aid, which is a core part of our mission – to help families afford this beautiful education.

Speaking of financial aid, don’t forget, applications are due very soon. See below for more detail.

God bless, and may you have a spiritually fruitful Lenten season.
