Weekly Update 2/15/18

Head of School's Message

“Now the little child who manifests perseverance in his work…. demonstrates, almost as in a splendid revelation, the true manner in which man renders himself valuable to the community.” -    Maria Montessori

Dear Parents,

Thank you thank you thank you!!! The Mardi Gras gala was a wonderful time, and it was great to see so many of you there! Sadly, a bunch of people who had intended to come got derailed by the flu and other things. But despite all that, it was as always, a very blessed event.

We don’t have the final tally just yet, but it seems to have been a financial success as well, which is great, because it helps fund our financial aid, which is a core part of our mission – to help families afford this beautiful education.

Speaking of financial aid, don’t forget, applications are due very soon. See below for more detail.

God bless, and may you have a spiritually fruitful Lenten season.

Sean

POSTPONED - Unless you become as little children . . .

Due to an unforseen change in scheduling, the evening with Maggie Radzik scheduled for March 3rd has to be postponed. We hope to reschedule for the Spring so stay tuned to your email for a new date.

Financial Aid Application Deadline

As with Admissions and Enrollment, RMS uses the services of TADS to process tuition assistance applications. The TADS Application and Worksheet are available here: https://www.renaissancemontessorischool.org/financial-aid/

The deadline to apply for aid for the 2018-19 school year is March 15, 2018. However, the sooner you apply, the sooner we can make a determination!

"Front Door" Change

The current main door - Door 4 - is not only far from the office but has not been functioning properly. We have installed a bell on Door 3 and will be using that as the school's main door. Please use that door and bell whenever you need to gain entry to the building.

Re-enrollment

Re-enrollment has officially begun. By now, you should have received an invitation to re-enroll directly from TADS. If you have not received this email, please check your spam folder and then contact Kristina Fox in the office if unable to locate.

As always, you will need to submit a $100.00 tuition deposit per child ($50.00 for RMS Atrium and Parent/Infant). This year, we have streamlined the process so after you have enrolled each of your children, you will be led directly to your payment agreement.

Because we are at or near capacity, in order to secure your child(ren)'s spot, the enrollment form, the deposit and the payment agreement will need to be set up prior to the March 30th deadline, after which open enrollment begins.

Should you encounter any problems with the forms, don't hesitate to contact TADS Parent Support at 800.477.8237, Monday through Friday 7 to 8 Central time.

Carpool Reminder

As a reminder, to make sure our carpool line moves quickly and safely, if you need to conduct any business with a member of the staff or you are waiting for a child, please pull around into the parking lot. This will allow the line to move up so that children will not need to be walking near moving cars. Thanks so much for you help with this.

Reminders

Bal-a-vis-x

Our very own school nurse Mary Pat Blanchette has just come back from taking a three day training in Bal-a-vis-x, a cognitive integration method. This approach helps increase productivity, improve posture, strength, balance, coordination, and decrease stress. It is also proven to help children with visual and auditory challenges, behavioral disorders and post-traumatic-stress disorder.  Mrs. Blanchette will be working with children individually on a rotating schedule for short sessions throughout the mornings.

For more information on Bas-a-vis-x, you can visit their website here: http://bal-a-vis-x.com/.

Inclement Weather Policy Reminder

Now that winter is upon us, we wanted to take an opportunity to reminder everyone about our closing and delay policy. RMS will follow all decisions announced by Prince William County Public Schools regarding cancellations, delays or early releases due to inclement weather.  In an effort to create a process that is predictable and consistent for parents, we will not make any independent decisions related to schedule changes due to weather conditions.

  • IF PWC is closed, RMS will be closed as well.
  • If PWC schools run on a delayed schedule, children in all programs should arrive at 9:45.
  • Pick-up times will be as usual.
  • If the school will dismiss early, parents will be notified by email, using the information provided on their emergency contact lists.
  • If Prince William County schools have a scheduled day off during inclement weather, we will follow Manassas City Public schools for a closing or delay and parents will be notified via email.

You can sign up for alerts from PWC here: https://pwcs.ss9.sharpschool.com/cms/One.aspx?portalId=340225&pageId=783698

Indoor Later Pick-Up

As the gym is now often in use after school, on cold or rainy days, Later Pick-Up will be held in the Cafeteria. Please park and enter door 5 and walk down the hall to pick up your child(ren.)
