Head of School's Message

The child is not an empty being who owes whatever he knows to us who have filled him up with it. No, the child is the builder of man. There is no man existing who has not been formed by the child he once was. - Maria Montessori

Dear Parents,

I’m pretty sure it is still Spring according to the calendar, but it sure does feel like Summer already.  Let’s hope the humidity holds off at least for a while.

We’re all looking forward to the Elementary community’s performance of “Persephone”.  Based on the rehearsals I’ve chanced upon, it seems like it will be an amazing event. I hope you can all make it!

God bless,

Sean P. Garvey Head of School Renaissance Montessori School

Head of School's Message

“Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.” ― Maria Montessori

Dear Parents,

Happy May!  The weather has been beautiful, and let’s hope it continues so.

If you haven’t already, make sure to sign up for our exciting Summer offerings. We’ll be extending our ‘early bird’ pricing, so don’t miss out!

Also, if you have any paperwork (agreement setups, etc.) I’d like to encourage you to take a moment and get it all squared away. Just think of it as “Spring Cleaning”. Thank you!

Weekly Update 4/26/18

Head of School's Message

To let the child do as he likes when he has not yet developed any powers of control is to betray the idea of freedom. -    Maria Montessori

Dear Parents,

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of introducing the elementary children to the sport of volleyball, a sport that was almost entirely new to all of them.  Everyone, even the most gifted athletes amongst them, were humbled by having to acquire new skills and to control their bodies in new ways.  To look at it, especially as compared to their facility with a more familiar sport, such as basketball, there was a pronounced lack of “freedom”.  But that is the nature of freedom, and it reminded me of the quote above.  It is through discipline that we are freed.  It’s a paradox, but a beautiful one.

Thank you to the parents who have graciously agreed to be our new Parent Guild leaders, Paula O’Keefe, Michelle Clune, Kim Cook as well as the gala co-chairs, Paula Hugo and Alicia Rainville.

God bless, Sean
